Bucks are bred for breeding studs or for hunting farms does are kept as pets and breeders as well it is not wise and very stupid to own a buck as a pet i have tried and had to give him to a wild life center it was ok for about 2 years then went rut kicked in he was a 3 year old male with 10 points and angry at the world and just about came threw the gate at me

i hope that these bucks were used strictly for either research or farming (like cattle) and not so called "hunting" with high fences at a deer ranch.....
