First cutaway in 4500 jumps? You need to chop it more often, you are missing out on all the fun!

@xphilip cutting the brake line is not a good idea, it wastes time and could cause other problems - for example line twists as other brake is stowed. Now your low and out of options.

@iscreamsu thank you. I have listened to other discussions along the same line and in each case, the only thing that matters is that you did something (which you did)! :)

for someone just getting in to skydiving like myself this is a very good vid to watch!

@l0lkie
It was my first cutaway in 4500 jumps on PD Velocity canopies, not my first cutaway, and not my first cutaway on PD Velocity canopies.
Kudos on your 7500 jump record, that's awesome!

Ok, I'll bite. You even state in your captions that cutting the brake line was an option.
Seems like a good one if you are under an otherwise good canopy! Why cut it away and use your last chance (and risk loss of canopy) for the sake a brake line repair? (land on rears obviously)
Thank you :)

@xphilip Here's the deal... I could take the time to get out the hook knife, cut the brake line, and hope that is the only problem. In hindsight, I like my decision. If I cut the brake line, I'm in for $80 to repair the canopy. I am in good position to find the canopy (at my home DZ). It is true the brake line cut would probably have worked, but I chose to chop.
