I have the same one but I use it for romping

@racindeere65 that could be caused by yes a bent flywheel key but its also possible for a carberator that is running a little lean to do the same thing. so youll have to do a little investigating to see which is the culprit in that case.
either way its not that big a deal to fix fortunatly.

sounds like the carb might be dirty or it might be just a touch lean judging by how it dies when you try to throttle it up after starting it. nice little mower though. you definently have something that isnt seen very often!

@1944johndeerel yeah, the carb is a little dirty but its not bad enough to worry about yet. the biggest problem is that the flywheel key must be a little bent because the timing is too far advanced and it backfires when you are trying to start it.

You can replace the worn bushings in those front wheels. The can be driven out with a drift pin & hammer. Go to your local NAPA store and they can help. That way you'll have the original wheels all the way round. Nice old mower!

thanks, my grandfather looked at the wheels and thought the bushings were just part of the wheel. i might get them fixed next summer
