Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Scion xD was introduced in the 2008 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the head and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the neck and chest when the dummy moved forward into the airbag indicate that injuries to these parts of the body would be possible. Head acceleration from the roof rail hit was low.

  • Hey, it did good, so why did it only get an Acceptable crash test rating?

  • Surpringly safe for a small vehicle.

  • XD That car's not funny. >:( It's called safe and serious.

  • ....or Toyota Urban Cruiser ;)

  • @kidinbed The dummy's head went through the airbag, then up in the roof and arms out of the window?

  • Wow that's pretty solid!

  • Scion XD! :) WIN!

  • the only good use for a scion.

  • @kidinbed High neck and chest forces. The dummy and airbag did not "cooperate" very well.

  • HAHA look at the fingers on the dummy!! rafl

  • when it started to crush it crushed fast and when it came up to the drivers area, it sprang backwards harder. maybe its only an acceptable rating because of the force exerted on the driver.

  • his head kind of went around the airbag and on the way back it hit the ceiling. But the metal. Ouch that would probably knock you out.
