Stretching before a run has always been a little iffy in our playbook. It's hard to lengthen muscle fibers before they're warm and trying to do so can lead to injury. But warming up is still a good thing, so try an active warmup like Olympian and marathoner Shalane Flanagan. A dynamic warmup will raise your heart rate a bit while priming your joints for action. I really admire people who run. I hate running myself, so people who do it day in and day out amaze me. I prefer a brisk walk, swim or dancing, can I use these exercises for those activities?
