  • can I leave the unit plugged? i mean use it like a component at home?

  • @elinno1 Both of the Bose SoundDocks offer AC power cords for use in the home. In fact, the regular SoundDock Series II will only work when plugged into an AC outlet. The SoundDock portable adds a built-in lithium-ion battery for use on the go, but requires initial charging from an AC outlet. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Any idea how long it will take to charge using 12v car system?

  • @timorum Bose only recommends charging the battery on the Portable SoundDock with the supplied AC adapter and, therefore, does not provide any specifications for charging from a DC power source. They state that it will take up to 10 hours to fully charge the battery from an AC power source. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv Yes it does. Finally someone can answer my question properly on this site when I ask this type of question. Thank you.

Bose SoundDock uses a supplied Lithium-ion battery. It is partially charged out of the box but a full charge is recommended before initial use. It may take up to 10 hours to recharge completely. The battery provides up to 3 hours of use when set to full volume. You can extend this time significantly by choosing a lower volume. The SoundDock will turn itself off when your iPod is inactive or silent for 10 minutes to prolong battery life.

    Hope that helps
