Why is it wrong to like classic Sonic?

I'm not a retrofag, despite how broad a term it has become.

I used to be a HUGE classic sonic but I realized he had his mistakes too. Like those fail stam cartoons and the archie comics, or sonic labyrinth. I learned to respect Modern's concept also. He is pretty funny, especially in Colors, and his voice actor is "ok". But they are the same, so learn to love it amd don't let nostalgia blind you!

I like Classic Sonic. And i don't hate people for liking him. But...

Lets take Mario for an example. Did he need to bring back his classic design in New Super Mario Bros? No. So why does Sonic have to do it?

@TheSliferSoul Well, because there's hardly anything about Mario that people may perceive as "ugly", yet even newschool Sonic fans can admit to not liking the way Sonic looks in games Sonic 4 or 2006.

@NickonAquaMagna2 Then what is ugly may i ask? Both he and Mario got more detailed looking when graphics evolved. Simply. Its not like Sonic Team gave Sonic sun glasses and shiny clothes, Or extremely altered his face.

@TheSliferSoul Well, for example, while his eyes being a certain color isn't a problem, his pupils have been shrunk. Some would say this makes him looks older or cooler but it just makes him looks a lot less chipper and upbeat than his past self. Also, he sometimes has this wrinkle between his eyes that makes him look really angry and mean, and his smile sometimes looks really forced. The Sonic 4 logo is a great example of this. Like I said, even newschoolers think it's hideous.

There is no true sonic. In all honesty i never even seperated modern from classic sonic until everyone started too. I personally just assumed sonic got older. I like both models of sonic and I would like them to keep the modern model. It is a fact that modern sonic has had some awful games but it has very little to do with the character and human settings and more to do with crappy gameplay mechanics. That being said sa1,2 and generations are good modern games imo as well as the classics

@skinnydipper16 I'm not mad. Just tired of people using eye colour as an arguement. It doesn't affect the gameplay the slightest, Gameplay is affected by how its programmed.

Once again. If Mario can use his Modern appearance, So can Sonic. Its fair and simple. Find him ugly if you like. But thats how it is.

@TheSliferSoul Well yeah it kinda does, I can't really imagine Classic Sonic in Unleashed Daytime gameplay, Modern Sonic fits the part far more, he's more streamlined and seems more appropriate to that sorta of speed.

And once again. Does it really matter how he fucking looks? Does it affect the gameplay!? No.

@TheSliferSoul well no, I'm just giving a reason Mario can get away with it. Modern Sonic is associated with eyecandy and GOTTA GO FAST, while Classic Sonic just gives a feeling of quality gameplay above plot or gimmicks. If you're going to get into reasons about actual looks, I think it's impossible to believe Sonic looks good in Sonic 4, what with his clumsy massive walk stride the lazy last minute circle leg blur add-on.

The later Mario games were awesome. Sonics streamlined modern design represents a massive drop of quality.

@NickonAquaMagna2 I agree on Modern Sonic's smile and facial expressions. But it also depends on which animator Sonic Team hire to make the 3D art. They could give him a classic smile anyday.

And in the end. They are the same hedgehog. Its just different looks. And its more important to talk about gameplay than appearances. Yet this is such a huge matter these days.
