What looks to be Tar Balls similar in appearance to the Gulf Oil Spill have washed up on a Beach in New York. NOTE: this is NOT a proffesional analysis. Also, the maker of this video advises AGAINST anyone collecting these things for themselves. The Tar Balls taken off this beach degraded into a stinking mass within 24 hours of collection. They are not safe and pose significant health risks.
The source of this material substance is unkown as of now, and may be from local sources other than the Gulf Oil Spill.

  • Thanks for posting this... will definitely do best efforts to get this viral. It truly is disheartening to see this in our waters especially if you've been going to it since early childhood.

  • @dijibeat Do it up. I'm thanking God that the stuff is only concentrated in one spot on the beach. Otherwise I'd be freaking out right about now. I also fish these shores quite a bit. Every year we get exotic tropical fish up here that blow in from the Gulf Stream. Even so I was still shocked to have found this stuff by accident.

  • I can't wait to hear from this guy. Have you had this stuff tested by a lab?

  • @daishalish I haven't had it tested because I don't even want to go near the container it's in. The stuff is severely toxic. Way more than I originally assumed. The fumes that came from the container when I opened it were utterly horrendous. I'm hoping to get the nerve to take it to a lab. Truth is the beach was still covered with the stuff a couple days ago. I hope somebody with more experience sees my vid and does a proper spot check. My samples have degraded into something detestable.

  • @PROFILESophiaYates This Corexit was banned in the UK for killing wild life in great numbers and believe it or not it was very hard to find that information as to why Corexit was banned in the UK. Now that the horse shoe crabs are dieing off those birds that depend on them will also die off. We use the blood of the those crabs for medical purposes and now that too will be effected. Now that the BP oil+Corexit is in the eastern seaboard what is safe to eat? Is the Lobster still safe to eat?

  • @tvryb the corexit is here!

  • @h2opower August 20th we had a die off of Horseshoe Crabs thousands. I took samples as well .long story short you & know now it has made its way up to the Northeast.

  • I'm no expert but I do live minutes from Pensacola Beach and can tell you this. Those look like "weathered tarballs" to me. We actually had a flier from Bp that showed us the difference between oil, weathered oil, tarballs, weathered tarballs, tar chips. The weathered tarballs are spongy feeling but here they are black. After sun exposure they seem to melt and stink like doo doo. Our beach was covered by oil for days but they "can't link it back to Bp!" So testing it will come back not Bp!
