Thank goodness Butkus played in the era that he played in. The NFL of today would practically handcuff one of his wrists behind his back and force him to play two-hand touch.

@hitek9wittafulclip Actually, Butkus would probably injure most of the guys out there today, especially the steroid users. They'd pull something, maybe end their careers permanently, while he'd be pacing the field, looking for another face to rip off.

@bailinnumberguy Yea thats all nice and cool but they couldnt make in the league today. The game is way too fast. Different era. Back in Butkus day olinemen averaged 250lbs now in day the league is full of WR that are 240 plus not mention 330lbs plus fast olinemen of today. Jack Lambert was good in his day also but in todays game he would be too undersized and slow. Also they couldnt cover Vernon Davis, Gates, Witten, or Gonzales if they wanted too and prob a get ran over by Jackson or Jacobs

Dick Butkus couldnt make it in todays game. Sorry to brake in down to you guys. He's a hard hitter and a sure takler but todays game you need way more to succed in todays games. Butkus went up against 250lbs linemen and had two cover slow unathletic tightends. Football players wont even full time players back then. You really think he could cover Gates, Gonzales, or V. Davis or hit Stephen Jackson or Jacobs with ease? Go against 320lbs plus athletic linemen of today? I don't. Hes not the best

And usually miserable cynics from the lost generation are better smart-asses than the tripe you just posted....surely you can do better. @kojak235 But what people are trying to get through your thick scull is that you DON'T match up players from these two eras, so why do it? Hell, that's like expecting Fred Flintstone to move in with the Jetsons!.....lordy, I've heard better reasoning from my sister's kids.

Today's game is full of pussies; yeah, they're faster and stronger, but you transport them back to the 60s where they get a dose of low pay and having to find a job in the offseason and you'll see a bunch of brats..enjoy
