When you're watching the whole series thru watch this episode as episode 13 of season 2 before Epitaph 2, it completely fits in and makes the finale a lot more clear, well done Joss on a very unique engaging awesome show

i can't believe FOX hasn't aired that episode in the US. probably the most redemptive episode i have ever seen in any series. Don't get me wrong, i love Dollhouse, but that episode sets it even higher in terms of quality and depth of the story and just sheer awesomeness. i'm happy Ztélé aired it here in Quebec.

Tapest is correct in saying that it was never supposed to air. Fox ordered 12 season 1 episodes, but they needed 13 for the dvd release. So Joss made Epitaph 1 on half the budget of a regular episode so there could be 13. The episode was not made to air on FOX. It was an afterthought. Joss wasn't even sure at that point that they were getting a second season.
