@LogicalStatements1 I absolutely can say it, as Calzaghe himself will tell you that he fought bums for 20 years and should've left for the big time much earlier.
I mean fuck, watch any of his fights dating back to 98, EVERY SINGLE FIGHT the commentary team talks about how he's gonna go to america next year, he's gonna move up to light heavy, he's gonna look for the big fights.
What happened? The bum ducked everyone and hid in europe fighting bums in a shallow weight class for 10 more years
@pearcemark2 You cannot say that for a fact, you are still an outsider to Calzaghes career, you cannot just make things up.
You assume he would make more money but you have no idea and no proof therefore you made that up.
I will close with he is one of MY favourite boxers of all time for he retired undefeated so in MY eyes he is A class all the way , YOU on the other hand can think what ever you like.
@LogicalStatements1 Calzaghe would've made far more money in america. He would've gotten more exposure, bigger fights, bigger paychecks, and more respect in boxing history.
Instead, he chose to go the route where he gets little exposure, laughable opponents, decent paychecks, and no respect from 95% of boxing fans outside the UK.
It's fine if you want to call him a B fighter. It's the jerkoffs who pretend he's anywhere near the top 100 boxers of all time who make no sense.
@pearcemark2 It's a business though man , I'm sure if he was offered more money he would have changed, when you only have so many years in your boxing career and so many fights left in you why would you be willing to fight for a smaller pay check, I know the fans get really into it and they like to think their favourite boxers are doing it for the sport and where that may be partly true it's not 100% true, when you are putting ya life on the line you have to think about No1
@LogicalStatements1 Calzaghe had the option to leave his shitty management team and stop fighting unknwon C level fighters. He could have left Frank Warren and came to america earlier to prove himself against the best.
He had NO interest. He wanted Hopkins to fly to Wales in 2002 because Joe was "scared of flying". Joe admitted he wanted no part of Roy Jones because he "knew his limits" and would only take the fight "for the crown jewels".
If HBO didn't make him, he'd have never come here.
@pearcemark2 Whoopdy doo?
If you dig too far into why people support certain people then you will depress people , just drop it mate.

@LogicalStatements1 Dana Rosenblatt is a legend in many peoples' eyes
They all live in Rhode Island, because like Calzaghe, he's a local hometown hero, which has no bearing on his status in the grand scheme of things.
In the grand scheme, Dana is a B fighter who never did much. Just like Calzaghe.

@pearcemark2 Ok then you win I guess, Is that what you want to hear?
Fact is he is a legend in many peoples eyes, get over it for fuck sake.
Like many people call Tyson a twat for losing when he felt like it and lost all respect for him, some people like him some don't.
Just get over it lol.
