This tutorial focuses on ArcGIS Desktop's powerful interactive raster and image registration tools. This tutorial reviews link tables, image sources, and the use of vector point data to facilitate image registration.

Resampling methods, transformation methods, and a discussion of orthorectification are provided.

Raster data obtained by scanning maps or aerial images usually do not contain information that tells where the image fits on the earth's surface. The task of Georeferencing raster data defines where the data lies in map coordinates.
