A concrete sub floor problem in a newly purchased condo and our disposal of the broken pieces. We pried out the broken and uplifted gypsum concrete pieces and took them to the local dump in Madison WI.

  • The material was GypCrete, and we had multiple professionals look at it (engineers, contractors, concrete specialists). Once it was determined that there were no structural defects, then it was quite easy to patch. I lifted out the old pieces of concrete my self, but we hired professionals to do the patching. It only took them a few hours to mix the new gypcrete and fill in the patch. We then covered the floor with a floating double layer of plywood and traditional oak over that.

  • It's been a year now, and it looks great with no further problems. The actual solution turned out to be significantly less expensive than all the experts we paid to come look at it!

  • you could have used a diamond grinder to level the bumps

  • the product is lightcrete, it could be patched easily. self leveling admix would solve the problem. It was designed for pouring over plwood sub floors. Did you get a professional opinion on this. It looks like a huge mistake from here.
