This configuration of the check-valve turbine will be used for land based applications, such as on rooftops of urban areas. Each level will have at least three sails and the sails will be offset by 60 degrees from the layer above allowing the turbine to rotate smoothly. • I built a turbine with four flags just like yours about 16 months ago but never had the opportunity to build a larger working model like you have. Great job. I have found that the biggest problem comes when the flaps "Flip" at that point my first prototype was torn at the ends of the flags. I tried to fix this problem by using a thin flexible plastic. It worked good but was noisy.

In my experience it a great deal of torque but slow spin and heavy vibration. for more info hwestric @ hotmail.com

  • @AGEOMANOFGAS Yes my plastic flaps also made a lot of noisy. My new turbine will overcome noise problem. Slow spin is characteristic of these type drag turbines. However since power is moment times angular velocity, this should not be a problem for producing power.
