  • @Reverendjim1. I don't think this can be traced to immigration. I think that the human population as a whole is much more mobile than it was 100 years ago.

Interestingly, I was going through extremely old newspapers from 1897 and found a poem from a very small mining town called Rosita (In Colorado: Now a ghost town) that included a reference to bed bugs. These creatures are not a new problem...just a resurfacing problem.

  • @rokaiNY. Headboards that have been previously treated with diatomaceous earth or silica based products will reduce the incidence of harborage in that area. If you find these products (white powder...if its a low-end hotel it COULD be something else so beware)you should pull off the sheets and look along the folds of the mattress and under the boxspring. I highly recommend the "bed bug identifier" app for further hints and tips (preview attached as a video response to this video. 8

  • @RokaiNY. You can usually just lift headboards up and lift them right off the wall. It takes very little effort. This is usually the best spot to check for harboring bed bugs, cast skin and fecal spotting. You can also check mattress folds, behind artwork etc. However, since they key in on CO2 and peak feed between 2-5 AM(ish) and then return to tight/dark places (a behavior called thigmotaxis) you will often find them at least some evidence of infestation behind the headboard.

  • Do a search on "Bed Bug Identifier" for iphone. Its a great app if you are traveling.

  • what was the star rating of these hotels?

  • @jodyw89 I have contracts with over 40 hotels from 4 star down to junk and I have treated for bed bugs in at least one room of every hotel.

  • @fiftyfuckingfeet Yes, after working with US customs on a 14 month project I am even more serious. The US government knows the origins of this pest & why it has reoccurred. Latin America & India are the primary sources. Thanks to lax policies & enforcement we are seeing an increase in the transmission of communicable diseases & pests like bed bugs. This is a political nightmare in the government with officials suppressing the release of such findings but I will be releasing some soon.

  • @Reverendjim1 illegal immigration? Seriously? Are you fucking stupid? When's the last time you've stayed in a hotel and seen a group of illegal immigrants with the sufficient id required to check in, let alone the amount of cash required to stay there... How about regular international travel, people we actually want to bring to our country who are visiting 100% legally carrying in these things in their luggage. I can't believe you can be that ignorant, seriously.

  • @StreamFeverNZ i felt crawling on me.

  • ...I think I am going to sleep in my car when I'm traveling from now on.

  • hey i found a bug crawling on my laptop (on my bed) and i was wondering if it was a bed bug. It was light brown, about a centimeter long, and only about as wide as a strand of hair.

  • I went from the world ending videos to this??

  • ONLY IN AMERICA

  • thanks for all of the info!

  • It is a scam created by the international transport there are bed bugs EVERYWHERE! The exterminator keeps the monopoly of crontrôle bedbugs infest If you are you need to spend hundreds of dollars and the problem will return, so it is in the interest of exterminating not solve the problem once and for all there is more $ $ $ to do.
