My cockatiel used to do this and I asked my vet about it once. He said they are adjusting their crop.

Ahhh he's cute!!
Mine does this from now and then. Can last a few minutes. I think it's similar to us getting hiccups

@Janellbird I didn't realize that it would be as popular as it turned out to be. I expect to post more and longer videos on this subject. The bird is now eight years old, so hopefully she'll still be "acting" for some time.

I sometimes get up early and/or stay up late, so it's fairly common. I now have a camera that does better close-ups, so I may make some more attempts to capture this behavior.

About 2-3 times a week I notice her getting tired like that, but it is not always easy to get her to pose. I'd like to make some more videos with the bird as the performer, and hopefully you will find them worth watching.
