It's not just about the economy or feeding poor Indonesians or saving the orangutans, those are important but in some way distractions. The Widjaja family which owns Sinar Mas are incredibly wealthy and powerful. Like any wealthy powerful people who have gained that from doing bad things (humans rights violations, illegal deforestation, corruption) they will not stop until the law prevents them.
Or until the companies they supply palm and paper to, drop them as suppliers. This will happen.

Nope...this kind of campaign is just effort of european countries in protecting their oil product like sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil, etc. Sooner or later their oil will be substituted by low price palm oil & its derivatives. Please check on the number forest that is cleared for all kind of oil in europe in the beginning of 20th century. What's the difference?
