My mill isn't puttin out the power I hoped for on the AC side So I decided to go DC all the way down. Also my anemometer shot craps so it need replaced and the mast raised a bit. I've been trying to figure how to get the tower down for a while now. It was a mutha to get up with 5 people, a ladder, ropes, and a 20' push stick. Luckily no one was hurt. I decided to go with a 2000 lb winch from Harbor freight to take her down. Had to Make a special bracket and anchored it to the rafters with 5" lags. I reinforced the rafters in the attic with 5' 2x6's for additional strength. Worked out sweet! All I need now is some wind.

  • I'll let ya know. But 2 months with no charge, I'll try anything. And really, everyone runnin theses PMa's is using DC. Some traveling 100' or more and hitting 20A.

  • love the wench idea. iam not sure about the dc run though, but hay that is the fun of experimentation. all though the bridge rectifier, i discovered, from the GM alternator is not very efficient . can wait to see the update. Good luck. and happy earth day

  • Good job Nate, That was quite feat doing by yourself! That Harbor Freight winch sure did a good job for you. I'll be curious to find out how you do with DC down from the turbine. I my experience running DC takes such a big cable to avoid power loss that I almost always lose more using DC. I hope this works well for you.
