Betse's pretty touch on the fiddle! Touring thru Idaho, Montana, and Utah, July 10-13; and then on to R.I. and then GREY FOX in NY. The Wilders performance of this 60's hit has been the hi-lite of two festivals I've attended, and probably will be again. Ike (Shelton) says there's a lot better bands in KC than them but I haven't seen one yet. Midwestern honky tonk at it tonkyest from Ike, Phil, Betse, and Nate. Or if you prefer Betse, Nate, Phil and Ike.
The Wilders learned this tune from John Hartford who found it in a collection of tunes from the Allegheny Mountains compiled by folklorist, Samuel Bayard around the 1930s. If you listen to the Scottish pipe tune Haughs of Cromdale you can hear where this tune came from, kind of a devolution but a good one.

I like the way they swing this rather than playing it totally straight. Really nice!

"The Wilders performance of this 60's hit..."
What the?
This is an old-time fiddle tune, not a "60s hit"....unless you mean the 1860s!!
