Definately the ones around 00:37 - a brilliant Guy Michelmore piece and one of the best sounding news themes EVER! Conjures up so much emotion and atmosphere (know that sounds sad but the only way I can phrase it!!!!) it's unreal.
Just watched this comp again and arent the latest corporate titles bland and very short as well even the ones before that were better. In response MJP sadly you may be right -not sure if your aware but it has been announced over Easter that Jane Mcklusky who was responsible for over seeing the shut down and loss of regional programming on ITV in the south west has been appointed head of regional tv at guess where -yes Spotlight -this woman shouldnt be allowed near a tv station ever again !
I think the problem BBC will attempt to get out of local news soon. Although the bbc wouldnt be allowed coz of the way its funded. But tbh i wouldnt be surprised if they where allowed to have the same cuts as ITV!!
Love Spotlight 1999/2000 titles in my opinion they are the best regional news opening titles and theme combined anywhere in the UK on either side. Spotlight has been great down the years from Hugh Scully through Fern Britton, Gillian Miles, Sue King, Chris Denham, Craig Rich, Dick Woodacre, Sally Taylor,Christopher Slade, Jill Dando (r.i.p),Juliette Morris,Chris Rogers,Tersea Driscoll, Russell Laby,to today! great programme! -shame BBC spoilt it with corporate look! Latest titles are rubbish!
GILHAMS couldnt agree with you more and everyone i speak to prefers those titles to anything that has come along since then -everyone including the producers of Spotlight resisted adopting the corporate titles until eventually they were forced on the region and another part of the strong south west regional identity was lost along with anything vaguely regional over on the otherside who soon want local news to come from Bristol? But its a shame what they have done to Spotlight post 2000 v. sad.
you forgot a huge chunck of spotlight titles but i still like it!

The first one is my favourite, the theme tune sounds like it's done on a Yamaha CS80!
