Dan Zanes interview

From campjinx.com: I never thought it would be possible for myself and my two-year-old daughter to be equally enthusiastic about a band. I was sorely mistaken.

My daughter and I saw Dan Zanes & Friends on their last trip through the Chicago area a couple months ago. Dan was gracious enough to not only let us film a couple songs, but he also sat down to talk for a few minutes between shows. His new album, Catch That Train has been played approximately 6.2 million times in our home since its release in May.

I don't think I can overestimate the effect that the discovery of this music has had on our family. It's created a real shared musical experience between Megan, myself and Josie that, honestly, would not have existed if it weren't for Dan's records. At least not at such an early age.

After our brief interview after the show, I came away with even a greater respect for what Dan does. His integrity, creative vision, sense of history and willingness to take risks are traits that I think are admirable no matter what your age or artistic stripe.

I love Dan, too. I followed him around Boston for a good part of the 80's and early 90's. But not all of us fans are liberals. That woman's irrating voice in the background slamming George Bush was nauseating (scary to think it's probably the mother of your kid). And it's a damned shame your daughter doesn't know who Mother Theresa is. Oh well. LIBERALS like you are "TERRIFYING."

OK, I'm now going to add the tag "TERRIFYING" to this video about a father and his two year old's shared love for Dan Zanes. Regardless, I love the tolerance here! You're right, it is indeed nauseating that a grown woman (my sister) has a political belief that's different than yours. (Sigh) If only all Americans believed the same things, shared the same religion and followed the same political party, then this truly would be a great country.

Dan Zanes is a true talent. I loved the Del Fuegos. Do I wish he was still doing that type of music? Yes 100%. Do I think what he's doing now is important? Absolutely! Liberals, George Bush.... who cares. This is great music for all ages.

hilarious intro! i have to say i am a 28 year old, who does not have any kids, can barely maintain her adult relationship, and who loves discovering new music and recently came across an album - smile, smile, smile, and listened to a few tracks and was like how have i never heard of this guy w/o realizing that he is a children's music performer i was BLOWN away
