Vintage 1950s outboard hydroplane race boat

Vintage 1950s hydroplane race boat complete with 1957 Mercury Mark55H race motor. 40+ HP with a quickie lower unit. I was putting along 'til I saw my buddy with the camera and gassed it - still accelerating up past the camer with lots left on the throttle.

Long live the mighty Hurricanes! Does yours have Quicksilver 1:1 bottom end, or just the big mickey-mouse bronze prop?

It was a quickie, tiny stainless prop, with the racing flywheel and racing carbs. Not factory, all Frankenstiened together, but it ran well. Have since sold it. :-(

nice boat, my father raced these in the UK in the 60's

must see if he has one stashed away somewhere....
