When Mandela walked free two decades ago, he was no longer a young man, but starting a new life. AFPTV looks back on the life of the 91-year-old, now a Nobel peace Prize laureate, South Africa's first black president and one of the world's most respected statesmen. Duration: 02:01.

  • Great video. Thank you for posting! Viva Madiba! Viva!

  • @DaSlug32 One, I would like to acknoweldge that things are nto always as they seem. There are oftne FAR more variables to take into consideration when judging a situation. Two, if it is this simple (which I highly doubt) then it doesn't say too much about Mandela. You said, his successor made the decision...not Mandela. This doesn't mean that Mandela approves of the decision. It is possible for a president and his successro to disagree. Also, why did Mbeki remove the units?

  • @KrfNYC2 Did you think they were going to spell it out? The commando units that were in place to protect the farmers were removed by Thabo Mbeki, Mandela's hand picked successor. Farm murders increased as a result. The 'Kill the Boer, kill the farmer' song continues to be sung, and even after the high court banned it, the ANC are fighting for it to be unbanned. Peaceful and forgiving man - I think not. His words are empty, the reality is very different.

  • @DaSlug32 No, it seems terrible. But I was under the impression that you wanted me to come to some sort of conclussion about Mandela based on the videos. Am I wrong?

  • @KrfNYC2 So that is normal to you then? What country do you live in - is this acceptable where you live.

  • @DaSlug32 Okay, I watched the videos. Now, what did you intend for me to take from them?

  • @DaSlug32 Well, I'll watch it and then get back to you. Thanks...peace.

  • @KrfNYC2 pasted links do not work. Type farm murders South Africa into Youtube. Part one and two. Never during the 45 years of Apartheid did this happen on this scale - the only thing that changed is that Mandela and his cronies started running the show.

  • @DaSlug32 Well, you're facts may be right they may be wrong. If they are right, I don't think that it's enough info to say Mandela is a bad person or a bad president (I don't know if you're saying this). There are probably many variables to take into consideration including Mandela's intentions. Also, I wouldn't trust the internet to teach me much, but I'll check it out anyway. Would you like to send me a link?

  • @KrfNYC2 Zimbabwe - less than 200 farm murders. South Africa since Mandela took power - 3080 european farm murders; most tortured before death. Google it, and start learning what this man and his organisation are really doing, while people focus on Mugabe and the mess he has created.
