A metaphor which solidified in my mind as I read the Los Angles Times article covering the California State Supreme Court's hearing on March 5, 2009 regarding the Constitutionality of the passing of Proposition 8 banning gay marriages in California.

  • Majority rules. The minority cannot rise up to oppress the majority. Less than 10% of the population which reproces through pedophilicsex abuse.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne You are right about minority classes being unable to opress a majority population. Ideally our system is set up so that no one can oppress anyone. However, the majority cannot Constitutionally oppress a Suspect Minority class, which the US Supreme Court has used to imply classification of the US Gay population; I believe it was in the case from Texas.

  • Also, gay people reproduce in the same ways straight people do, and gay people are not pedophilic as a rule.... pedophiles are pedophilic; there's a difference. The large majority of child sex abusers are straight men.

  • 51% is a majority. You want Democrats to just use the nuclear option to pass healthcare reform too. You can't pick and choose when you want a majority. Courts are not super legislatures to violate the will of the people!

  • @ToxicOdiousOne Courts ARE adjudicators of US Law. When a law is exConstitutional, it is the Courts who correct that. This is part of how the Founding Fathers in their wisdom protected the citizens and the democratic ideals of Liberty from mob rule, by application of Constitutional law.

  • The people said NO. Get over it.

  • 51% of the people. In 2008. The People also said yes to slavery once upon a time. Get into it.
