Purchase: http://www.der.org/films/lost-and-found.html The legacy of the governmental policies concerning population growth and the family under the Communist rule in Romania of Nicolae Ceausescu were devasting. This documentary presents an uncompromising look at the situation of scores of thousands of children in the state orphanages today. An excellent film for the study of recent eastern European history, politics and their effects on health and human welfare.

  • God has nothing to do with it.

  • This is the most horrible thing I have ever heard of. As the mother of three children, I am deeply touched by this. Poor children. I am speechless.

  • I was in a Romanian orphanage at 2 weeks until 15 months then I was adopted and brought to the US.

  • @hectorbolshevik

Birth control has nothing to do with being "pro life". A world where abortion was illegal would not look like this. This is a result of children not being valued by parents who conceive them, so is abortion.

If you care about children, you will be moved by this. If you care about children, you also won't kill them before they are born.

  • @hectorbolshevik I don't agree. I do believe in pro-life, but that isn't saying that I do not believe in birth control. Yes, that is an extreme. However, I do not thing Nicolae Ceausescu was correct in his doings at all and the only thing to learn from this is to not act in the way that he did, not that we shoudl allow abortion. Also, people should have some point of self control. He bascially forced people to have children. We have a choice in America.

  • People please calm down! this is historical footage taken 20 years ago, if anything the Romanian population is in rapid decline and the number of orphans is really small now. All are taken care of. The footage at the beginning was taken imediatley after the revolution when the people did not know of the horrors that were taking place there. With almost immediate effect the situation changed thanks to the direct implication of state authorities and massive donations from West Europe.

  • it is worse than a horror story

  • This is a video that should be shown to all these "pro-life" lunatics. This is a preview of a world where abortion and birth control are illegal. Nicolae Ceausescu really was a "right to life" activist, and like all the rest he was pro-life until it was born.

  • oh God, ... what is this... i'm speechless.. will pray for them to release them from those bad situations... God gives every persons the Mercy when you ask for it ... the rights, the food, the freedom, etc... but we are people have no mercy!!!

  • he died 21 years ago shouldnt be like this today. and did u see the women drag the child on the floor like a dog.

  • they lie there where no such policy of increasing childhood production! these ppl didnt whant to work to put food on the table for theyr children ,my grandmother lived in that day and she raised my father and uncle by her own,if u have love for uțr child u just dont give him to the state or some other ppl u give uțr life to try to make for him/her a better world
