Bicycle expert and owner of PV Bicycle Center, Steve Bowen, details the advantages and improvements of the latest 2010 model specialized Roubaix over any other similarly priced bike on the road today. For 2010, Specialized stays true too it's policy of "Innovate or Die" with the amazing Roubaix Comp! The Roubaix sports a frame made from 7-R carbon, a professional grade material usually found in much higher priced bicycles. The ergonomic design of the frame and the handlebars optimizes the comfort, stability and ease of ride in the 2010 Roubaix Comp. Special Zertz inserts in 3 key locations in the body of the bike, in the front and rear forks and in the seat post, employ the superior shock absorbing power of high tech elastomers to reduce high frequency vibrations. This significantly minimizes fatigue for the endurance rider.

  • The Sirrus is a good solid bike. It's not a heavy-duty touring bike, for that you would look elsewhere. But it's certainly not going to self-destruct at 1,000 miles. In fact, the frame has a lifetime warranty for the original owner unless it's been crashed or abused.

  • @BWCC01 the shock dissipation throughout the frame is nice. Also, I am very uncomfortable on roadbikes, but loved my old specialized cheap mountain bike, that (not too low) lower hand bar seems interesting (this bike is out of my financial range, but specialized road bikes look interesting). does this explainer design bikes? seems quite knowledgeable.

what is a low-cost specialized roadbike??

  • @piccalocb ...Leslie Nielsen is dead.

  • Reminds me of Leslie Neilson! He should do another Naked Gun movie.

  • I have a 2010 Roubaix Elite (just below the comp but with the same frame). Just rode it on a supported ride from the Seattle area to San Francisco on the coast doing about 80 miles per day, every day. It does as advertised - long distances at high speed. I can also speak from direct experience that it does NOT fail after 1000 miles (in fact 1000 miles barely took any of the bits out of calibration).

  • I've seen issues where the older roubaix frames are breaking...if it were me, I'd stay away from specialized.

  • It's not everything you want in a bike unless it is the kind of bike one wants. It would not be everything a racer wants, for example. I would be more favorably impressed and trusting if you didn't do the salesman thing, and just provided facts. It's a great bike, I just bought one.

  • How much is this bike?

  • I hope your not saying my really nice Sirrus Compact will just give out at a thousand miles. Is that all bikes give is that many miles? What do you mean by explode? The frame won't just brake. I mean I know it's aluminum but I don't intend to fall. I have my loaded panniers and bike ready so I am scared of your reply. Can you please elaborate?

  • @botchalism What do you mean? In general or with that much weight. Like a spoke would break. I'm prepared to fix flats and spokes on the road and other things.
