Members of the Optical Society of America(OSA) celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the invention of the laser by Dr. Ted Maiman by sharing knowledge about lasers through community outreach programs.
In this video, OSA member, Dr. Patricia Bath teaches a K5 students about lasers and light properties at an Elementary School in Los Angeles. The American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness recognizes the many laser applicationa that have improved vision and helped the blind regain vision and produced this video for educational purposes. Retinal photocoagulation, Laser trabeculotomy, Photorefractive keratoplasty, and Laserphaco are a few of the many innovative applications of the laser which have advanced eye care over the 50 yerars since the invention of the laser.
