@MyPatrickn No I happen to despise this man, and his music. The only things he has influenced are cocky little pricks like Frankie from the X Factor, who will associate the media attention with the drug abusing. I'm entitled to my opinion, and the music he plays is bland and depressing. I'm sure half the people who know of him wouldn't know who he was if he wasn't a famous addict, the prick.

@morto2323 do you happen to be retarded? Why does a musician have to be a role model, I love Doherty because of his music, which in my opinion is not shit but fucking fantastic. Did he get his place by being a junkie? No he did not, he got his place by playing in the most awesome rock band in the UK, the Libertines.

The detuned guitar is not the worst part of it, as he fucks up the chords all by himslef no problem. Is *that* your iconic British musician?... pity. There are plenty more actually deserving that (stupid) title.

@KezSince1992 I heard him sing with Tom Chaplin and if Tom wasn't there it would have sounded worse than most people on karaoke. Maybe he was Ok before he took drugs, but he's a druggie mess now.

Anyone who actually has a taste in music will understand that this "drugged up, skinny wreck" is in fact, one of the greatest British musicians, ever. Despite the bad public image, Pete Doherty is an amazing poet cross rocker. He is a real English music icon.
