Series 2 of 'Survivors' 1975- '77 created by Terry Nation. Series 1 as you know dealt with the aftermath soon after the pandemic that killed 99% of the population. Series 1 we saw Abby, Jenny, and Greg come together and gather survivors to start their own small community. In series 2 our survivors join with Charles and his group to start an agrarian society which is self sufficient. As they learn and work to become self sufficient we are introduced to survivors wandering the countryside looking for a community to join. Series 2 centers on those encounters and there determination to build anew.

As usual the Survivors lifestyle is a bit Guardian-reader. For a priest, they get a rather effete, well spoken parson from Cheltenham with liberal views bordering on agnosticism!

As far as the Christian faith is concerned disaster and persecution has made people believe more, not less. Faith grew strong under Communist persecution and is doing so again today in places like Africa where the Christian Faith costs people their lives.
When Christianity was made a state religion the faith was watered down. When times are good and easy this also waters down people's faith, and/or, causes them to reject faith entirely.

What's wrong with walking on the roads and bikes? with trailers?
And those students took barely enough stuff to see them through one night

Some of the episodes in this series left something to be desired but this one was interesting. post collapse fiction can raise many questions about politics, religion and human nature.

@FredaPeople - this episode was not written by Terry - was written by Martin Worth...

Pees on the new Survivors! What a luxury, in those days, TV script writers could go into discussion mode instead of the quick fix that dominates nowadays.
Glad to see Terry Nation challenging his own promulgation of Middle Class managers teaching the chirpie cockney sparrars how to live - a set-up that was so institutionalised in those days.
But what would Greg and co make of the world we have now? ? ?

Great episode. Really good when they allow the characters to develop a bit, isn't it? Thanks, AftermathShow!
