@brother776 chicken colour depends on breed... there are white and brown commercial layers used for battery farming... and no the feed and lack of sunlight do not change the colour of the feathers. The white ones in cages are most likely to be white leghorns and brown ones hylines or brown shavers although there are also brown leghorns, hyline whites and white shavers..
