Fascinating posts on this topic. Thank you all.
It seems to me, having read her book and books written about her and her husband's government she was either a cleaver dog and pony show distraction the citizenry came to crave or she was truly a disassociated champion of the descamisados 'her' government knew not what to do with, but played her up anyway to take attention from themselves. It is clear, after her death everything quickly went to hell in a hand basket.

Yes was a fascist in the mould of Mussolini. Fascism started as a blend of socialism, nationalism and limited capitalism. Mussolini used to be pure socialist endorsed by Lenin himself before he changed direction. I don't think Eva Peron was a jew hater like the German Nazis but I may be wrong.

@Miketayfan you just defined fascism.

@bellachelito Of course Argentinian economy, as all oligarchic, liberal and neoliberal system will flurish in numbers....
Why not?
(Slave)workers and peasants worked 6-7 dys/week,12hours minimum, no social security or medic insuranse, no benefit or pension, absolutely nothing than "charity"...
And this is the future that the Neoliberals-Globalists are planning for the future, the NeoFeudalism, dreaming for the "good old times", were the currency were stable and the people lived in stables....

@serreosoo8 Argentina in the 1920s had a solid economy and was considered a rich country which took in immigrants by the thousands. After the Perons the Argentine currency has never recovered.

Opposittion to peronist movement was very hard, When Eva was died some people write on the walls of argentine cities "viva el cancer" ( long live cancer ).
Its rigth that Peron and Eva was a great social politics for argentines workers and they have a good politics for argentine development but her origins was a nationalist popular ideas, near than fascists.

@evaperonfan I agee!
@SupremePenguinTone Certainly not. Original peronism by Evita & Juan was something in between capitalism and socialism. Of course that's really simplyfied explanation. Something like that. Evita Peron was a true social worker of her times though.

A Argentina é fêmea. Que bom para o Brasil ter como vizinho um povo como esse. Amo a Argentina e todos que moram ali. Desde Brasil, com carinho!
