March 01, 2007 - What started out as an average, dreary day for students in the town of Enterprise, Alabama became a nightmare to all. After spending nearly two hours in a severe weather drill in the hallways, students were horrified as a tornado ripped through their school and hallways - and through their hearts. From this wreckage came all sorts of damage - trees were obliterated, a hallway had collapsed, an entire wing of the school was devastated beyond recognition, the stadium was in ruins, and cars were strewn about as if tossed like rag dolls. It was a nightmaric vision, one that would never erase itself from history.

Students filed out of the building in shock and misery, confused and frantic to find those they loved and cared for, while parents waited fearfully across the street, searching for their children who wandered across the parking lots in huddled, tearful groups.

Eight students died that day; over forty students were injured; and some were hospitalized because of severe injuries. Those that survived are haunted now by the memories of that day, of seeing those they had known fall beneath the remains of the ceiling and walls, and experiencing what no person ever should. Katie Strunk, Michael Bowen, Michelle Wilson, Peter Dunn II, Michael Tompkins, Jamie Vidensek, Andrew Jackson, and Ryan Mohler will never be forgotten. They will live long after this tragedy in our memories and in our hearts.

As we all move through this tragic event, we heal together and remain strong for those who didn't survive. From this ruins, we'll stay together and meet the sunshine of tomorrow.

  • accept mother nature and its happenings....if you don't then you don't deserve a place on this earth

  • There was never a problem with accepting Mother Nature. She caught us off guard and we dealt with the deaths of family, friends, and companions. We have to accept Nature and Death, but we're human enough to grieve. You made a good point, though.

  • I would like to have your permission to post this on my buzznet page. I grew up in Enterprise and gardurated in 1995 from EHS. and I would love to have tis on my page .

  • I moved to Enterprise in 1995, and it's like home to me. Feel free to post this video on your buzznet.

  • What an absolutely beautiful memorial you have created. I am a teacher in Oklahoma, another "tornado" state, and I can only imagine the heartbreak being felt by your school and community. May all of you feel God's comfort during this tragedy.

  • Thank you. It is a hard time, but with support and encouragement, and everyone's prayers, from people like you make it all the little more bearable. Thank you so much.

  • I don't think its very highly of you to talk about the dead like so. When you lose your lil sis like i did in this accident you end up living your life in fear. Its been two years now and i still fear storms. i will always miss Michelle and nothing can ever bring her back home again!!!

  • How dare you say something about what happened to us. We lost 8 of our classmates, and they took the sirens as serious. Please, at least be respectful of the the friends and families of the lost ones. They were truly dear to us, and no one need to mock them.

  • well now...this is a prime example of what happens when you f**kers don't listen and you think "oo its nuthin"

i took evrey single drill as if it was a real one, but no one else did...and THIS is why...cuz i dont f**k around with things that could kill me

  • sometimes we forget what happened on this day. but it is always in the back of our mind. Everytime the wind blows hard, the skies turn black, and the rain starts pouring daown our hearts tremble to think of what we all know could very well happen again. We sometimes live our life in fear of another tragedy like this that could happen. I was in the school that day and i lost 2 of my best friend who i will never forget. RIP Andrew Joel Jackson & Ryan Andrew Mohler. I cant wait to see yall again!

  • wow thats sad
