You gotta prime the injection pump. Little bleeder screw, usually right by the place where your fuel line gies into the pump.... Go easy on the ether... Little diesels are cool. I had a 2cyl diesel Mitsubishi tractor. It would run forever on 2gallons of diesel.
-
poor thing
if its been run on veggie oil or bio fuel, its raped.
compression seems pretty even but injectors and pump need proper attention
-
@tommartyn bull shit when you spray ether to the engine and shes gets very hard to turn over with that sharp knock . Thats an ether lock.. good way to blow gaskets . bust piston rings , break rods ,, yeah its not my engine so go ahead fuck er up we dont care . well just laugh at ur ass when she blows .. Oh and a Hydrolock u idiot theirs never an almost hydrolock . it would never had turned over
-
Its not actually trying to lock up, it was at the most, trying to hyrdolock. Which isn't that big of a deal at cranking speed. We did put alot of effort into bleeding the pump, and injectors, and as you can see, it didn't work. SO back off, and its not your engine.
-
lay off that god damned either . its trying to lock up . jesus christ bleed the fucking injectors

Haha, that is the scary part.

@tommartyn Yes. Some people sure love to post mindless comments...and the sad thing is, these fools take on ADULT responsibilities like voting, driving a car and reproducing!
-
haha, thats sarcastic right? :)

@nosaltadded such a brilliant response!

You kinda left out the 3rd, and most likely thing that could happen from using STARTING FLUID on this diesel: Nothing bad at all will happen, AND it might even start. See, those 2 things you mentioned, They aren't very likely to happen. It isn't great for the rings though. This thing didn't have a header. it had an exhuast manifold.

Fuckin idiots!

I think it might have just been veggie oil. i don't think he was doing bio diesel. He was just filtering the oil very well, and then heating it and running it through his engines. but he had alot of vehicles there, all sucsessfully running on veggie oil for a few years, He seemed good at the conversions.
This engine he bought, he never tried to get it running, so it never had the veg oil run through it. If the injector pump was bad, could only one line spray?
-
This is a nice video of a yanmar marine engine mounted to a generator head. Well it seems you had a hell of a time starting it, and the first thing you should have thaught was did the guy, you baught the generator from did his chemistry right when making Bio diesel. Or was he just a man who filtered the oil and then burn the oil in an engine. That injector pump probobly has some glycerine from the bio diesel oil in it . Glycerine is one hell of a glue when it drys. Nice unit.

@76plymouth no as stated before wd 40 has a much lower flashpoint than diesel, with good compression temperatures in the cylinders with no fuel still can reach 700c and more so the wd40 starts to burn well before tdc this causes "detonation" and anotyher side effect is cylinder glazing. as i say easy start or wd40 should only be used if your life depends on getting your engine started. if you must use it all the there is a problem with the engine.
-
@glockeva nothing is wrong with wd-40. Only either is bad.
-
@tommartyn put it one that little tiny wheel horse with the 5 horse pressure washer engine:P some one would get killed tho
These people who start this engine are seems to be never started a diesel engine in their life.... I know this engine model & engine make and is one of the best diesel engine in the world. I believe that they recorded it and posted it to show their lack of knowledge rather than spoil the name of a nice brand of diesel engine presently available in the world.

Alright man... First off, we obviously don't know much about starting these kinds of engines. Other then a few Chevy 6.2L's, and My VW jetta, we hadn't had many to fool around with. And those always just worked. This one had been sitting for years, and we aren't in anyway trying to make it look like a shitty engine, We are simply trying to start it.
How about next time we just scrap the engine instead of trying to start it?? Would that be better for you?

think they need to get someone who knows what there doing

How are you supposed to learn if you never try?

...after seeing this and your previous vids, I can't stop seeing in my head the episode of home improvement where tim puts a harley engine in a riding lawnmower...wonder why...
Ya ever get it goin' good?

@redreaper2020
hahah :)
nah, haven't gotten it going good yet. drew donated it to the field though, just need to start trying to work on the thing. so many projects though
