  • As you say, Faddis has proven over his career that he can play very musically, melodically, etc. My take on this particular performance is not that he's just showing off, but rather, he's HAVING FUN! And, I, for one, am glad to be sharing in the joy and excitement! Thanks for posting this, Brian740!

  • God I love listening to Jon play. That man is not only one of the best jazz trumpeters, but also one of the best musicians that I've ever heard. PERIOD.

  • Is this Donna Lee?

  • Yeah another vehicle for Faddis to display his incredible high note chops. AND his ability to play at break neck tempos. I guess it is one aspect of the horn - to what extent can a musician gain mastery over the instrument. His achievements are incredible. To conclude though there always seems to be an uneasy tension between 'pyrotechnics' and music Freddie Hubbard was the one who was able to combine them both at times.

  • Donna Lee is a SICK tune, and it's very difficult on trumpet. I'm starting to learn it myself. Wish me luck!

  • Suck's. Pyrotecnic only. No music.

  • Donna Lee is a VERY hard piece to play on trumpet. I doubt Miles could play it without very much practicing first (we all know he wasnt a guy who could play in the Faddisphere). And its opening its a b!tch to hit.

  • Schilke had the megatone first, and its heavier than the megatone. Schilkes 'standard heavyweight' is heavier than the megatone, and that XL blank is FUCKING HUGE. it's nicknamed the CO2 cartridge. The cup is identical to the cup in a 3E mouthpiece.

  • When Faddis plays that high it sounds like someone stretching the "hole-end" of a balloon and letting the air seep out slowly to make that screeching noise. Freaking nuts!

  • yes it is Jesse

  • It has worked just fine for me. I can get a lot of power and sound through it especially in Marching Band now. Wat about u? Just be sure that when you order something like that, don't do it just because someone else does though. Hope it works for ya as well.
