Israeli Gaza truce sheds light on Shalit - 18 June 2008

A new truce between Hamas and Israel calls for an end to rocket and mortar bomb attacks. Al Jazeera's David Chater reports on how Israel will ease their economic siege on Gaza imposed when Hamas seized control last year. If all goes as planned, the truce will end attacks from both sides and a prisoner swap could be realised.

This is funny. No American presidential candidate can talk of truce with Hamas but Israel can.When Jimmy Carter wanted to negotiate over ceasefire, he has been attacked by both American and Israeli politicians as being anti-israel. Now we see the Israelis doing what he wanted them to do but no one says something.

And every time Israel withdraws from territory she is attacked again. Hamas will not even police the Palestinians to stop making and launching bombs. What should Israel do under these circumstances? Watch while civilians are killed?

Make a constructive comment that the Palestinians will agree with. The Israelis are willing to listen, they are even talking with syria.

By the way, the Palestinians do have their own land now, it's called Gaza.

There are Extremists and Moderates, both within Israel and the Arab world. Sadly, it is the voice of the Extremist that mostly finds its way, leading to war and killing. Hammas were elected by a population who had experienced the results of "peace" under Fatah. I suspect it felt a lot like war and occupation and thats certainly what it looked like!.

The palestinians will die out like the American Indians and the Armenians.
