The new melody takes a bit of getting used to, but it's not bad; and besides, the great truths in the hymn aren't changed. And I've never heard that third verse, although I've spent quite a bit of time resigning doubt, care and self recently.

This is a gloriously beautiful old Gospel hymn rendered pale and not glorious, at all, in its "contemporary" tune! So sad! Plus, a lot of little girl voices singing in unison just is not a good sound. Why change the original melody, which was based, I believe, on a Chopin theme?!
