Favorite Mexican Artists: Frida Kahlo

My South African wife, who came to me late in life, is Jewish, and has spurred many new interests in me, one of which is a fascination with the many awesome accomplishments of talented Jewish artists. Here are some brilliant works by the tortured artist Frida Kahlo, 1907-1954, who claimed to be Jewish, even though some people say her father was Lutheran. Kahlo was badly injured by a Mexican streetcar when she was 18, and it left her in severe pain and influenced her art for the rest of her life. She also had a long-lasting and troubled romance with the Mexican artist Diego Rivera, including two marriage ceremonies. She once said there were two great tragedies in her life. One when she was hit by a streetcar, and the other when she met Diego Rivera.

Yes, she did. Loved him deeply. But she also grew weary of his philandering.

If she was born in Mexico.Dressed like a mexican women and LOVED Mexico soo much! Why would you say she is jewish? LOL.She was and will always be the greatest female artist in the world and she is MEXICAN! Deal with it move on & get over it!

@jacobR1377 Sorry, one can be both Mexican AND Jewish. As it happens, Frida was NOT Jewish. If you'd read the other comments, you would have seen the question is moot. Nevertheless, I agree with you. She was a terrific artist!

I don't care whether she was Jewish or not!Her paintings are great.This is the most important thing and this is what makes her immortal.By the way, i can't avoid to mention this passionate and touching song that accompanies her works in this video.Really beautiful.Can someone please tell me which is it?

Great video,awesome song loved it. I've actually been to her house ,la casa azul in Coyoacan, Mexico City which is now a museum.I encourage anyone that loves Frida to go see. It was awe inspiring!
