What I found interesting is how deep the real Inuit kayaks are, halfway up the chest in some cases. Not like the modern ones which are super low profile. What I found amazing is that they made their kayaks out of wood washed up on the shore and bound together with sinew. There are no trees in the arctic region.

Beautiful tribute to a largely forgotten watercraft. Ever hear of George Dyson? He helped resurrect some Inuit designs. Eventually, he produced a kit using modern materials with modified ancient designs. It is some boat. Another pal Jim Noyes, led the first crossing of the Bering Strait in modern times, but using skin-clad baidarkas along with some Umiaks. He reunited families from Diomedes Islands that were split when the Iron Curtain fell. A film of the expedition is called, "Curtain of Ice."

Just plain old google image search, my friend. What is impressive is that they built such amazing kayaks out of natural materials.....
