Of course, the danger is now from a fruit-loop Iran and China, which has to keep trying to grow at 8-10%, by any means possible, in order to prevent worse things. This is the sort of atmosphere in which fascism grows- and it won't be wearing jackboots or swastikas this time.

If Hitler had stayed a penniless artist in Vienna or rabble-rouser in Munich and the Kaiser or his successors had been in charge in 1939, the war might still have taken place but 70 years later, we wouldn't be as fussed about the war as we are now. Because of the spectacular evil of Nazi fascism, we still look back to that time as a great moral crusade.
