This video is a response to a municipal bid in which a competitor has claimed the Wayne Curbtender can not lift 2,000 pounds.

As verified by the scale attendant at frame 1:15, the cart that Wayne Engineering used for the strength test weighed 2,160 pounds.

Wayne Engineering is open to receiving competitive video replies if anyone can come up with an automated side loader than can match this weight level. Challengers welcome...

  • That's cool, but you get a 96 gallon toter half full of ice, coated with frost, using low grip like our boss insists we use (even though the carts are guaranteed unbreakable...yeah right) and that sucker will slip out of the gripper. Even full of wet grass in summer, with no frost on the cart, low grip will not always hold. It's also quite a bit slower than high grip, yet for some reason we are not allowed to use high. We use the wide rubber banded traction grippers.

  • @camgreer You have customer's throwing away ice??? :)

There are a few adjustments you can do to help counteract the effects of frost. Since you're not using the Hi-Grip, you can turn its settings much lower in order to get a stronger grip without crushing the can. Alternatively, you can turn up the Low-Grip pressure a little ways to increase grip without crushing the can.

Finally, there are several adjustments on the belt itself that you can do. The tighter the belt, the less slipping.

  • @WayneEngineering Call our service technician John and he'll talk you through the process of either changing the gripper pressure settings or adjusting the belt gripper tightness. His number is 319-266-1721 extension 382. He is in the office from 7:00AM to 4:00PM Central Time.
