Cute, cocky guy Raj(Aamir Khan) bumps into Madhu(Madhuri Dixit) and a feud begins. Their practical jokes turn ugly, however, when the two go on a class trip together and Madhu tricks everyone into thinking Raj has tried to rape her. Now really angry, Raj decides to teach her a lesson by threatening her of a rape only to make her realise the gravity of the accusation. Shhe realises and accepts her mistake and soon the two fall in love. They marry against their parents wishes and the movie follows their tumultuous relationship.
