Very nice cover version! When I learned how to play Driver 8 on the guitar, that was when I felt "now I know how to play the guitar!" Liking that Ovation you play, also! When you get a chance, check out my version of this tune! The only difference between yours & mine is that I do not sing on it. Can't sing to save my life, lol!

Man I'm inspired. I haven't listened to good old R.E.M. in a long time. I'm going to have to learn this song. If you could post the chords it would be much appreciated (and the little solo progressions). I've learned more from you this a.m. than I have in the last six months taking lessons.

Floaters are brightly colored (usually orange) balls that surround hi-tension power lines. This will sometimes be seen near airports where small planes take off and land, since the power lines might otherwise be visible. There were power lines that had that near where I grew up, so I always figured that was the line in the song. It seems stranger that they would actually lower the lines, and if they had been lowered how would you know unless you were actually there when they were lowered?

Power lines have floaters so the airplanes won't get snabbed is the line. And the last line is fields of wheat are looking thin. These are probably the two most misunderstood lines in the song!
