@deadfaithful Dear friend. They didn't set a land speed record with an '88 B2K Callaway car. They set a land speed record with a one off, specially built version called the Sledgehammer.
@deadfaithful the one that did that had like 800some hp... car was a beast,,,
im not baggin on l98 but there cast iron pistons dnt hand too much,,,, i own a lt1 camaro i been thinkin bout supercharging it but unless i do internal its not worth it for 6 psi and possibly blowing it up,, u kno what i mea?
@germantellez18 well i wouldnt say im an expert with l98s but i have spent some time working with more than a few of them, i dont know what my friends truck puts out exactly, but the '88 B2k callaway put out 382hp/562ftlbs so youre probably right about the horsepower numbers but torque is what you really feel anyway
@deadfaithful to get 235 to 500 goin to take internals,,, u can only do so much b4 rods, piston or any other part gives out,,, ,maybe 6psi if well tuned would only get you mid to high 300's
@germantellez18 well mine was rated at 235hp, but i doubt thats accurate, a friend of mine has a truck with a 88 corvette l98 in it, as far as i know he hasnt done anything to it but put a turbo kit on it, i dont know what the boost is at but that 5000 lb truck can keep up most mustangs and civics, the intakes for the L98 were restrictive but with boost the motors scream
i have an 85 vette and i know if i put a single 76m turbo kit on it id have 500 horsepower or so, but i imagine whats holding the guy in the 87 back is the transmission, he either had the 4+3 manual which is just a 4 speed with extra trouble or the 700r4 which isnt all that powerful either, even if you sink 2g in the tranny you would still be better off with a t-56
@AzrielUndead it just takes longer to type, that cars legendary though
