Canadian mining corporations' drive to wealth expansionism dresses up with different versions of the truth depending which community they are dealing with.
This mural painting project aims to bridge the disconnection between the stories of the favored communities here in Vancouver, unceded coast Salish territories, and the affected communities abroad. Join us to uncover the sad truths buried in people's throats.
The canvas has travelled to communities in Guatemala that are being put through the harmful consequences of gold mining (Marlin Mine, Goldcorp). 65 participants translate their stories into a 30feet long cloth mural.
After a visual storytelling exchange in Guatemala, the canvas made it back to Vancouver, and it invites communities to connect and converse through more storypainting. for more... goldminingart.com
