GIOVANNI BATTISTA PERGOLESI (1710-1736)
"Stabat Mater" for soprano, alto, strings and basso continuo in F minor (original version)
7. Eia Mater - Andantino [alto solo]
8. Fac ut ardeat cor meum - Allegro [a due]
9. Sancta Mater - A tempo giusto [a due]
Performed by Concerto Italiano
Featuring Gemma Bertagnolli, soprano
Sara Mingardo, contralto
Conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini
*Pergolesi was commisioned in 1734 by the Cavalieri della Vergine dei Dolori to write a new Stabat Mater to replace the now unfashionable one written by Alessandro Scarlatti for the Cavalieri. Pergolesi finished it only a few days before his death. The Stabat Mater became famous throughout Europe and became a symbol of the perfection and universality of the Italian style. Bach even paid homage to it in his motet "Tilge, Hochster, meine Sunden".

@katikavagyok
the song is about mary's love for her son and her strength in pain as he died on the cross. im guessing the picture references that.
