@Roflelf The flexibility gives the sword it's snappiness, which gives it better stabbiness because its thrusts hits like a whip.

@zoegrowing Straight stiff steel swords are still pretty flexible. Not that people would use it in a fight or anything, Scimitar like Sabers and Broadswords are more popular. so are larger weapons like pudao.

@Roflelf The fexible sword is used for swoud dance,coz it doesn't hurt people. Another kind of sword is called HAN JIAN which almost just for decoration now in mordern time though it is for battle in ancient time. Pity.

Jian is not actually used in battle. Weapons like pudao were used in battle instead.

not really, rapiers don't break when clashed against longswords, so I don't see any reason why a jian, which is usually thicker than a rapier, would break against the katana.
