  • For me "The Kite Runner" is my favorite film of 2007. It was emotional powerful, and the storyline was quite fantastic like you noted.

I think you criticize the script and direction a little too much. Maybe it's because I don't understand the terms. I mean give me an example of a "good direction". To me, the term is so vague, it's like saying the costumes in the movie were good. How can you tell that the costumes were good or bad to begin with?

  • "Good" or "bad" directing depends on choices in the filmmaking process that the director is responsible for - the more you look at movies the more you're able to see distinctly who made what choices while you're watchin the movie. In retrospect, the badness of this movie was, IMO, mostly due to the screenwriting, but Forster's bad direction is evident in several scenes, such as the rape one - camera choices, music, acting - that's the director guiding the process.

  • Maybe you are too young to even comprehend a complex movie...don't worry the little mermaid has a sequel coming out on friday you will probably understand...this movie builds the characters great and the emotional involvement with the kites is figurative and not to be taken as a "scene" but as a battle for survival and the "running" is a Journey...ooh..maybe you could understand Wall-E

  • Wall-E is a far better movie than the Kite Runner. Many critics are saying it's the best movie of 2008. As for the rest of your blather, please think before you speak next time. The kite scenes were nothing more than lame CGI. Because the characters care about the outcome, we should too - when we don't, it's the movie's failings for not being well made enough. As for "running" being a Journey....what?? Lol. Try to speak at least slightly coherently dude.

  • After watching some of your reviews I'd say you certainly have credibility.

So I would like to ask you a question:

I think David Benioff is a great writer but the story itself really doesn't attract me enough to see that particular movie. As you might know, he also wrote Troy, 25th Hour and Stay. So my question is:

Did you recognize any of Benioff's particular writing style during the film or was it just a matter of translating a book story into a movie script?

  • I'd say Troy was better written than Kite Runner, though I haven't seen Troy in awhile. Other than that I didn't notice any big similarities between the two. Thanks for your comments!

  • you're disgusting.

  • @gomikeeray2003 I concur. I don't believe he has accurately analysed the book. This is one of the best books I have ever read. There were so many instances of symbolism in this book; the fact that he didn't understand any of them is.......faux pas!

  • Thixxx.... out of ten.

  • @MovieBuzzReviewDude Sorry you didn't get to see enough of Hassan's ass as he was getting raped.

  • Don't watch this SHIT!!!

  • sort it out, the film is a very good portrayal of the book- albeit not as good but what film is? and forgive the director for his apparent miswork in the rape scene...who knows how to make a rape scene work well?!

  • sorry, your weird voice distracts me...didn´t understand a word

  • Correction, "second favorite film".
