@gsomej A republic is merely a combination of different types of government. The U.S.A. is actually not a democracy it is a republic, though one major part of our republic is a democratic voting process. Furthermore his question pertained to the political parties not the types of government.

Best i can do is examples....Republicans- give big buisness tax breaks to grow, keep a big military, agenst abortion, right to own a gun, less goverment involvment.

@zozlimits From what I understand, a democracy is favoring rule by the people and dealing with things by following the majority. A republic deals with being close to the rules of written law.
