The bassoon is a tragic instrument, isn't it? Even lively pieces sound somehow sad and suffering (but beautiful suffering). And although the bassoon sounds so good, it is so rarely used as a solo instrument. Nice, that this piece brings the bassoon to its right.

@Albana132 I disagree. The bassoon as the right mellow tone for this piece. Also, the bassoon has the right beautifully sad character for this piece. I also feel like Vivaldi chose the bassoon because it has a lower voice, but not too low, giving it an almost human like quality to it. This is just my interpretation.
