You love Doo-wop. Here is one maybe you've heard, probably not. Listed as a rare pricey find in American Records. The Corvels on Lido records, 1957. It names the Royal Teens with the Corvels on the label. Could this be "short shorts" and "believe me"? You know Bob Gaudio was in the Royal Teens before he joined the 4 seasons in 1960.
Enjoy, "We made a vow"..

  • One more thing.. You are correct. This is a VERY rare record. I haven't seen an original copy in the almost 20 years that I have been collecting. This brings back memories. I first heard this back in the late 80s on a Jocko Henderson album my father owned as a kid. I was probably 10 years old at the time and really fell in love with this record.

  • Hello PJ

    Thank you for your expert knowledge. Glad you appreciate rare doowop. Check out the other clean doowop I entered on Youtube, "Yellow Moon"

  • allycool62, thanks for the great doo-wop by the Corvels! Backed up by the Royal Teens, huh? Didn't we used to sing along to their hit "Short Shorts"? Who likes Short Shorts? We like Short Shorts!!! Were the Royal Teens the guys who sang about Short Shorts?????

    Great video allycool!

  • Thank you Ed Joe for your continued support. Well, believe me short shorts were the biggies by the Royal Teens.

  • The lead singer for the corvells is my father William F. Cooper

  • I sold my copy of this 10 years ago for what I thought was an outragous amount. But I agree this is a very rare item. I have never seen another copy for sale;

  • The Corvells (BB The Royal Teens)--1957 - We made a Wow / Miss Jones (Lido 509/ Tip Top 509).

    Corvels-- We made a vow

  • The Royal Teens were the back up band on the Corvells session. They did not sing on the record. Bob Gaudio wrote "Short Shorts" and after leaving the Royal Teens he joined the Four Seasons, and the rest is history. Gaudio is playing in back of the Corvells.

  • Yes, this is the same Royal Teens. They (The Royal Teens) did a few records as The Three Friends on the Lido label. I could be wrong but I think the Royal Teens were a band as well as a vocal group. The flip of Short Shorts is an instrumental called Planet Rock. This leads me to beleive that The Royal Teens were the band backing up The Corvells. I don't think the Royal Teens were doing vocals on this record.
